Book Launch Team

For a booklover like myself there is no greater thrill than diving into a new book. That is unless you’re apart of a book launch team, of course. I’ve been blessed to join Candace Payne’s team, who you may know as the Chewbacca Lady, when she was launching her first book Laugh It Up! Then I had the pleasure of joining Dr. Kathy Koch who is the Founder and President of Celebrate Kids Inc. launching her Five to Thrive book. Which is pure genius as are all her books.

I believe that being apart of any book launch team is about supporting writers. And it does takes some work. Not that I am at all comparing it to the work the authors and publisher do, but it is more than simply reading a book. You help spread the word until the day of its release. You have to read the book, which is kind of a given. But usually it has to be done by a certain time. Each launch team is different, but many times there are Zoom meetings, and/or special Facebook groups that come together to discuss the book. From cover to cover your input is taken into consideration. So there is, at least for myself, the pressure of making sure you have something to say.

Appreciate Writers

I could go on and on about why you should get this book. And I think you should. But instead I’ll try to stay on topic. Being apart of launch teams is truly something special. Yes, there are the occasional free items. And those are always great, but what is even better is the sense of getting to know the author.

With each team I’ve joined I couldn’t help but feel that personal connection. An author’s discoveries and honest truths make them relatable. Not a faceless voice dishing out advice and opinions. Instead you uncover how, and why this book was even written. Now, normally this is included in part in the author’s notes.

But who reads them? Everytime, and every word? But after these experiences I will say I give much more time to those sections then I did before. Especially, when I love the book. It’s a respect thing. So when there was an opportunity to join Pastor Greg Holder’s team with his latest book, Never Settle I jumped at the chance. I hadn’t read anything by him before so I felt like this was great to have a true unbiased opinion.

Book Review

OK, here’s my two cents. Finding a book that is entertaining is one thing, but finding one that teaches you is a gift. There are many wonderful devotionals, Bible studies, and other Christian literature out there. And the way our world is going, I believe the need for direction is at an all time high. Society is thirsty for hope and hungry for purpose. And books like Never Settle are a welcomed addition.

Not only are there helpful suggestions, with biblical based principals, but the author uses his own experiences. And as part of the launch team I am grateful that I can honestly recommend this book. Author Greg Holder’s real world application to everyday life is a great resource for new believers and seasoned followers alike. Because yes, even Christians can feel hopeless, stressed, or lost at times. The moment we take our eyes off of God and start looking at the everything around us things start to go down hill.

Being apart of this launch team didn’t earn my praise, but the writing of an honest follower does. I hope this won’t be the last book launch team I’m apart of because when we’re part of this you hope it blesses, encourages, or even makes someone laugh, it’s a great feeling. So the next time you see a publisher or author asking for help I hope you step up. If anything it will be an experience.
