Being in Portland has been a wonderful experience so far. My husband has been in training conferences all week off and on so I have been left to explore the city on my own. So first order of business was to get a pedicure. The staff at the hotel I was staying in directed me to a little nearby spa http://www.portlandspa.net
First, let me say that location is so important, and they have an amazing spot right by the Willamette River. I was greeted by a friendly receptionist and seated immediately. The spa was quaint and very well decorated, and the staff was super welcoming. They truly seemed to enjoy their jobs; and why not they work in the most beautiful part of town.
Their prices were fairly reasonable, and with their large variety of services; facials, laser hair removal, massages, and of course manicure/pedicures I believe it was worth every penny.
As my feet were being done, I was able to look out of their large store front window onto the river and watch as the boats sailed by. Truly, a breath taking experience. If you’re looking for a quite relaxing spot to get pampered, and you’re in the area this place is a most. If I had more time here, I’d definitely find a reason to come back and visit this spa.

Related entry’: when I’m in cities or towns I like looking out for old signs painted on the sides of buildings. They often hint at a building’s past life. For example, there’s a building in Wellington’s Ghuznee Street (now an apartment) which was built by Cadbury’s and has a very venerable looking sign advertising its chocolately wares – at least it did when I last looked, these things tend to get painted out unfortunately.
