Mom needs new jeans

When was the last time you bought yourself something new? Something just for you…not the house, not for the family? If you’re like most moms, it may have been awhile. Perhaps, you don’t get the same joy and satisfaction shopping for yourself as you do for your family. Or maybe shopping for clothes leaves you feeling let down, and forced into clothes that are “stylish” but doesn’t reflect you. I can completely relate. Walking into my local Kohl’s I can easily spend all my Kohl’s Cash (and then some) getting my kids outfits and my husband work shirts. But when it comes to my clothes, well let’s just say that takes a back seat. That is until my favorite pairs of pants start to look saggy in all the wrong places. It was time to shop. And not just for any old jeans, but the right denim.

Fitting Room Race

It’s not that there aren’t new things out there that makes shopping for clothes a chore, it’s the fact that I have to try things. It’s not a body image issues, just a fitting room thing. But to find the right jeans I knew there was no way around it. I scanned the shelves filled with fifty shades of blue and headed to the dreaded fitting room. Once I lock that latch, the race was on. Maybe it’s just me and my crazy self-talk, but I’m convinced that in the middle of undressing the fire alarm will be off, or something requiring an immediate exit of the building will take by. And there I’ll be in complete disarray. But I digress…

Right Denim, Right Now

The first few pairs of jeans fit were not to my liking so much so that they didn’t get a glance in the mirror. But somewhere between my fifth pair and deciding to give up and go home it happen. I put on another pair that felt good, and then I checked the mirror. I found them. As I was grabbing a variety of blue jeans from the well-stocked shelves, I must have accidentally stumbled across these. The jeans fit both comfortable and were flattering. You know, the way their suppose to but never do.  Yes, ladies I found the holy grail in jeans.

Hello Mid-Rise Jeans

Now, this may only be news to me, but ladies Mid-Rise (Skinny) Jeans are amazing. They still hug you like the skinny jeans we know and love, but without the unsightly muffin top squeeze. Personal, I’ve never liked the hip-hugger trend. Those jeans always left me feeling like I need to pull up my pants. And forget bending over or seating in chairs with no backs. Can anyone say, plumber? And I believe that these so call hip hugger jeans should shoulder some blame for the muffin top epidemic many women have experienced. I am suggesting we all ditch the hip huggers and jump on the Mid-Rise Jean train.

Find the Perfect Fit

With juggling kids activities, work, time with your husband all while running a household, it is understandable that fashion takes a backseat. As a mom in my mid-thirties, I don’t have time to fuss over clothes either. That’s why I wrote this seemingly ridiculous blog about jeans. Because finding the right pair of jeans was so exciting I had to share. It is so important that us moms take time for ourselves. When it comes to clothes, every mom deserves to feel good in what she’s wearing. And having a favorite pair of jeans…or two or three is just the beginning. So maybe the next time you’re out clothes shopping, you’ll try on something new (hint: mid-rise jeans). Love or hate the style take the time to find the perfect fit for yourself. Because it’s all about the right denim darling. Happy shopping.
