cruise

My husband and I had an evening onboard the Spirit Cruise http://www.portlandspirit.com/ and it was a pretty great night.

The cruise provided dinning while we traveled up the Willamette River. The scenery varied from small lovely boat houses to grand lakeside homes valued in the millions. We left the port at 7pm, which was perfect timing to watch the sunset transform our surroundings.

While the view was calm and still the energy onboard was fun and festive. The staff must (in my opinion) have been in performing arts at some point. We were welcome by our servers singing as we took our seats. Then throughout the night a very talented piano player played a variety of songs, occasionally being joined by one of our servers performing along side him. They all were super talented.

Our bartender was one of my favorite people. She had a great personality, and bonus she was original from my neck of the woods. She made a mean drink and being the only bartender serving 40+ people she did so quickly. And on top of that she also performed a solo; and rocked the house (or boat that is).

This cruise felt more like a time machine. Dinner and live performances throughout the night…it was what I imagine the 20’s saloons to be like.

When it came to dining we served yourself, which allowed us to enjoy their fruit and salad bar while making multiple trips back for the pastas, potatoes, and bread. And being a coffee lover I was happy to find out that the coffee was free…so I felt obligated to have several cups 😉
