I have recently joined a Women Bible Study, and we are blessed to be studying The Armor of God by Priscilla Shirer. After completing only the first five days, I can honestly say that I’ve learned so much. One thing that has stuck with me is that Priscilla reminds us that our enemy is invisible, real but invisible.

Now, the invisible enemy is, of course, referring to the devil. We at many times look at our enemies and battles as being physical. But what Priscilla has taught me is that its not. Whether you have problems with a co-work, spouse, illnesses or money woes your real enemy is invisible. And he uses those areas in our life which we are vulnerable to attack, distract, and discourage us.

My recent wrestling match with the enemy came to light yesterday. I have been very busy this past weekend and, of course, I just had to get sick. I haven’t been getting good sleep, I feel physically exhausted, and my kids seem to need me more then ever…for everything. So I have been at the end of my rope just trying to get through each day. Finally, last night all my kiddos were in bed, and I decided to write. So there I was typing away. I felt inspired.

My husband (being a sweetie) made the kiddos lunch for the next day and was cleaning up the kitchen. Once he was done, he let me know he was heading to bed. I was finishing up myself by that time, and I too longed for my bed. As I was about to click the save button it happen. I don’t know what my computer did, or if it was ‘user error’ as my husband would say, but everything I had spent the last 30 minutes writing was gone.

I sat there for a moment trying to figure out what happen, but I knew it was all lost. I was about to melt down and seriously throw a tantrum. I mean come on, rightly so, right? But at that moment, right when I was about to let this event ruin my night I realized it was the enemy. He didn’t want me to share my post. And that was a great sign because that means I’m doing what God is calling me to. So I simply closed my laptop and promised myself that I would share this story.

Don’t let these attacks work. Don’t let him distract or discourage you. Know what the enemy looks like because he will come in many forms to fool you. Cause the more you see what he is planning on doing, the better you can prepare yourself. Thank you, Priscilla, for reminding me of the armor God has given me. I’ve learned to wear it…and to click Save after every sentence.

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 6:12

And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. 2 Corinthians 11:14

You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. John 8:44

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. Ephesians 1:3

Lord thank you for providing us with everything we’ll need to defeat the enemy, Your armor. Help us to remember that the devil is always waiting to attack and that we must be ready. Let us see pass his tricks and disguises. Oh God help us to put on the armor daily and turn to you in prayer when we grow discourage or scared. Let us continue to walk in your ways and send the devil running. Thank you, God for always working in us. -Amen
