Now I’m not going to go into detail about how terrible the pain is. If you’ve had back pain you already know, and if you haven’t then you don’t want to. My husband has been struggling with this pain for months now. And other then an x-ray being taken, and some pain meds being prescribed nothing else has been done. We don’t know what is causing him all this pain, it and our insurance is making this already miserable time more of a nightmare by dragging their feet.

We’re hoping he’ll have an MRI soon so we can at least find out what we’re dealing with. I can’t even begin to imagine my husband’s pain. The frustration of not being able to do daily tasks without experiencing a stabbing pain must be maddening. I want him healed as much as he does. Not just for the obvious reasons…but I want my husband back (so to speak).

This back issued had stolen him from me. Not only can he not participate in many of our family activities, but he has become such an unhappy person. And as much as I understand why he is it’s still hard for me to see the joy being drained from him knowing I can’t do a thing about it.

I know his mood is directly related to his pain. He has become less patient (with good reason), and he doesn’t laugh or smile as much as he uses to. Now I’m not knocking him for this change because I’m sure I’d be very unpleasant if I were in his shoes. But it’s hard to see someone you love go through this and not know if there is a real, and permanent solution.

He has even said that he fears that this may just be our new way of life, and that statement breaks my heart. What if they can’t take the pain away completely? That thought has popped into my head on a number of occasions, but I have to push them out. I don’t know what the future holds for us, but I’m going to make sure he’s seen by doctors who want to help, and won’t stop until we have an answer.

And I’ll continue to be supportive, and understanding; while still having him be as involved in our family’s everyday life. I don’t want this time in our life to define us as a family, and I don’t want him to miss out on being with our kids (and vice versa).

I’m praying my next update on this matter will be informative and offer solutions for those who are suffering from back pain. Cause then that will mean that my husband will be on the road to recovery.
