This time of year everything changes providing a beautiful color show and with it a drop in temperature. Enjoy this fall with some seasonal outings and activities that will be fun for the whole family.

Nature Walk– Get outdoors with your kids while the weather is still agreeable. Look up walking trails or other locations that will showcase this season at its best. And have that camera ready. I’m sure they’ll be great photo opportunities ahead.
Additional Tips: Pack lights, but include plenty of water. Know the weather forecast for the day and dress your little ones accordingly. And if you’ll have a stroller in tow, make sure you know what terrain you’ll be on.

Picnic– Who doesn’t love picnics? With the cooling weather bugs will be less of a problem during this daytime outing. Have the family involved in the making and packing of the food. And if you’re feeling really creative theme your food to have a look as well as a taste of fall.
Additional Tips: Use as many disposable items as possible, so your trip back to the car is easier and lighter.

Apple Picking– This is a great time to go out and support your local farmers. For many kids, the experience of going out and picking their very own fruit is a unique one. Ask the workers any helpful facts you may think your family should know, and tips on picking the juiciest apple.
Additional Tips: If you’d like to extend the experience once home then I suggest baking an apple pie, or making caramel apples. It’s a fun, delicious treat to continued a day out in the orchid.

Camping– Whether it’s for a day or weekend kids will love calling the great outdoors their home. Memories are made around the campfire and under the stars.
Additional Tips: Aside from all the necessities you’ll be packing (and road trip snacks) make sure to include board games and card games. With no service, it will be a great time for the family to talk, play, and reconnect with each other.

Pumpkin Patch– This is the staple activity announcing that fall has arrived, but not all pumpkin patches are created equal. Yes, in the parking lot of a Home Depot maybe convenient but you lose something with that convenience. I suggest looking up the closest farm that is open to the public. Many of them will offer tours of the farm, and some will have carnival games/prizes, food, face painting, petting zoos, and even rides for the kids.
Additional Tips: Be flexible with your time, and have plenty of money. Because many items are handcrafted and seasonal gift shop prices are often higher. And because no outside food or drinks are usually not allowed you’ll have no problems burning through your funds there.

Hot Air Balloon Ride– What a beautiful and unique way to take in all the sites at once. There’s no better way to get a perfect view of the colors of this season than from the sky. The only potential hold ups for scheduling this as your next family outings would be the price and any age/weight guidelines enforced by the company.
Additional Tips: As previously stated you’ll want to do some research on cost and requirements, but you’ll also want to consider each family member. If not everyone will find this to be a fun experience try to find a way where they’ll still be a part of the outing overall or save it for another time.
