December is my favorite month of all. There are so many seasonal decorations all around, and plenty of events to take part in. But not everyone feels holly jolly this time of year. So to help get rid of that humbug attitude I’ve created this list with some of my favorite activities to put the Christmas spirit back into this season. Let this December sparkle and shine with these 15 family Christmas activities.
- Bake cookies-from one to cut out shape cookies, the more frosting, sprinkles, and colorful they are the better.
- See the lights-whether on foot or by car; in a residential area or downtown shopping district; see the night sparkle.
- Watch Christmas movies- with everyone in pj’s all snuggled up together. It’s the perfect way to unwind at the end of the day.
- Go caroling-gather fun, like-minded people and fill the night with music.
- Go to church-this time of year should be spent remembering the reason for the season.
- Count the day’s down-time flies so keep track of the days with a seasonal calendar or create a Christmas chain.
- Listen to Christmas music-in your car or at home let the season sing out all around you.
- Be generous-giving is good for the heart and soul. So whatever the amount, give it freely.
- Go to the theater-watching ballerinas, actors, or singers perform classic Christmas stories and songs is a memory you’ll carry with you throughout the year.
- Pay it forward-perform a random act of kindness.
- Christmas crafts-create and display decorations that you and your loved ones have made will add a personal touch to your holiday.
- Send out cards-its one of the rare times many people look forward to getting their mail. Sending letters/cards is a dying art excepted during this time of year.
- Family traditions-no matter how big or small they are, continue them. These are the memories we cherish the most.
- Play in the snow-don’t think there’s a lot to do when it snows, well you’d be wrong. You can have a snowball fight, build a snowman, or go ice skating. And for the more athletic there’s also skiing and snowboarding to name a few.
- Taste the season- from seasonal foods, candies, and drinks this is the time to enjoy them. Just a few months from now you’ll be missing hot tamales, gingerbread cookies, and peppermint cocoa.
Love these ideas!! I’ll definitely have to share these with my parents.
Thanks
